My answer: No

The whole idea that GW is dieing is based around the fact that you do not have to keep playing in order to keep up with the game. You can leave and comeback as you wish and still play the same basic game. If anything, I think Anet and NCsoft want you to take a break from GW, so that when you do come back, Chapter 2 will just be availible for purchase.

You can always join another guild. Btw, are you using a premade PvP character??

being free will be a huge benefit to its longevity, many do pvp but i had more fun in pve, to each is own. I have aquired many things many would kill to have (i.e all characters with 15k armor sets black dyes, crystalline sword, superior vigors and absorption runes.) I really dont need to do anything else, GW was my first time in a rpg settingand it pulled me in. I have since bought World of Warcraft since most rave about it so as to play a more rpg style game with a massive world. When chapter 2 comes out I may buy it if they increase lvl cap so I actually have something to shoot for. I think it will be around for a while but for now its getting old as I myself have achieved all i wanted. They wont raise the lvl's so I doubt I will be back unless it is an occasional game session.

some will stop playing guild wars but free live updates, holiday events, and future expansion packs will keep people coming back. ultimately, people are going to play the game until they have achieved all that they want to and then move on but after taking a break from the game they will be back.

I think yes at times it does tend to get boring, but I don't think there is a online game out there that doesn't get boring after playing it for a long time. The fact that I have a fairly active guild, and we use TS, has greatly helped my GW experience. Having someone to talk to or even quest/farm with, makes it very enjoyable in my opinion.

Adding TS is the best single thing that happened to our guild. It made GW more fun, it made us better in GvG, teach noob members in PvE and PvP, chat about BS, laugh and everything else.

In fact, some members keep it on even while they are not logged on GW!

Umm.... isn't that the amount they invested in shares for the company?

How much did it cost to make the game?
How long was the game in production before they made a cent?
How much does it cost for programmers, artists, marketing, QA ect?
How much does it cost to run servers 24/7?

Since you have the time could you look these up as well?

that was the total investment in the company anet that ncsoft made. thats why i said 25 mil in my first post becasue they dumped more cash later. the final investment of 33 mil includes everything.

it costs $3mil per year per center. all of the other info you requested is not listed on ncsofts site.

That's stock in the company...not how much was invested in the production of the game, no?

4 slots is small. And having to pay the full price of the game just to get 4 more characters is ridiculous.

It makes you evaluate exactly what you want just that much more. Regardless, I know of pay to play games that only give you two to three characters. For $40-50, you get four characters that you can keep -- forever (or as long as the servers are up, which to me, means close enough to forever ). That's pretty good, no? And if not, then one must be unsatisfied with many many things in life with those types of base standards.

Joking aside, I think that many people forget how much fun they get out of these $40. If I play 300 hours, and never play again, don't you think I've gotten much more than my money's worth just through those hours alone? How many times do we go to bad movies, and how much money have we spent on movies that we didn't enjoy?

It's all relative, yes?

Well, if you evaluate a TV set and conclude it's crap, what would be your reaction if someone say: "how much time you spent watching that TV? The cost is fairly low if you compare how much time you spend on a video game that cost 50$ so you cannot say this TV is crap..."

If you are happy with 4 characters good for you. I am not. I don't tell you what to like or dislike so I appreciate if you can do the same.

I have played EQ2, and let me tell ya something --- GW blows it away, IMHO.

For my 50 bucks I've logged on almost 900 hours in GW. I also plan on spending a lot more time playing it....

Frankly, if one doesn't like the game why not put it down and move along. Why spend a bunch of time on a GW forum spouting your woes. I'm not talking about constructive criticism, but c'mon now.

I agree 100% with what you said Aria. I have never invested so much time in a game, and got this much value out of it.

As soon as you find ANYTHING that compares TV's and video games, you let me know. We're comparing video games to other video games. Thanks.

I noticed a drop to. There was hardly anybody anywhere before the Halloween Update. Would be nice if that many more people were on sometimes.
